Nanjing Association for Science and Technology (NAST)
Nanjing
Association for Science and Technology (namely, NAST) is
a non-profit, non-governmental organization of scientific and
technological workers
in Nanjing.
As a bridge
between the scientific and technological workers and the
government, it is an important driving force in
developing science and technology,
as well as economy.
Mission
Focusing
on economy construction, NAST unites and mobilizes the
scientific and technological workers in Nanjing to
implement the strategies of "Reviving Nanjing through
science and education" and "Sustainable development", to
promote the development, popularizing, spread and so the
boom of science and technology, and to facilitate the
combination of science, technology and economy
so as to contribute to the local economic and social
development.
NAST spares no effort in serving its members, letting
the government know their opinions and voice, defending
their
legitimate
rights and interests, and assisting their
professional development.
Major Tasks

to promote
the advancement of science and technology by means of
scientific exchanges;

to
popularize scientific knowledge
and spread
the thoughts and approaches of science among the general public;

reflect
opinions and requests of scientific and technological
workers
and safeguard their legitimate rights;
- to award
scientific and technological workers with outstanding
contributions;
- to
provide policy advice and other services to the
government and the society on science and
technology-related issues;

to develop
cooperative relations with foreign science, technology
and other business communities;

to conduct
continued education through various training programs.
- to
initiate social careers for public welfare according to
its mission.
Systematic
Organization
Founded in
the year of 1959, NAST has now developed into an
enormous
non-governmental
scientific and technological organization of
multi-subjects, multi-levels and multi-categories
including 85 municipal learned societies and institutes
concerning natural subjects of science, engineering,
agriculture, medicine and intersecting subjects, and
almost 300 branches in 11 districts and 2 counties,
60neighborhoods, 65 villages and towns, and 160 large
and mid-scaled enterprises and research institutes in
Nanjing.
Cooperation
Having wide connections with all the scientific and
technological workers in the city, NAST has got the
advantages of talents and intensive knowledge. Nowadays,
NAST is cooperating actively with foreign and domestic
organizations, communities, institutions, universities,
enterprises and personalities of insight, offering
excellent services to society and markets so as to
promote the academic development, scientific research,
technological innovation, achievements transformation,
talents exchange, and economic prosperity.
